Got son an android phone. To access "the market" you have to register your google account. When You do this the phone seems to keep accessing the internet every half hour or so. I've switch off Auto-syncing for the e-mail account + another option that says "auto-sync" without an explanation of what it was syncing but it keeps accessing the net. It's only €1 per day but I don't want to pay €365 euro a year merely for the option for him to play shite games.

Any ideas how to stop it and let him keep the shite games?

While you're in Accounts and Sync, turn off Auto-Sync too. This will prevent such apps as Gmail and Twidroid from draining the battery by automatically connecting to servers via 3G or Wi-Fi when you don't need them to.
