Any thoughts?

Newmill running?

What are the penalties for recent winners like Dancing Tornado or Imperial Hills?

I missed your reply on my previous thread on this.

Imperial Hills 13lbs penalty
Dancing Tornado 4lb penalty
Sanglote No Penalty

They were the penalties applied. Imperial Hills looks like he is going to be well treated. Hoping prices will be out soon. I expect 8/1 the field. The one I like is Jessica Harrington's Alpine Eagle. The form of his second to Quiscover Fontaine at limerick on Stephen's day looks very smart and gets in off 116.

The books are up with William Hill, Paddy Power, Boyles, Tote, Skybet and Victor Chandler

Best Prices

7/1 Robin Du Bois
8/1 Imperial Hills
10/1 Pyscho
12/1 Dancing Tornado
14/1 Vital Plot
14/1 Fen Game
14/1 Alpinr Eagle
14/1 Turtle Time Lucky
16/1 Sky Hall
20/1 Splurge
20/1 Carthlawn
20/1 Sasenta
25/1 Siege Of Ennis
25/1 Silver Jaro
25/1 Pistol Flash
25/1 Wanango
25/1 Deutschland
33/1 Bar

No way Imperial has a 13 pounds penalty

thats what he has been raised
but the penalty should be 4 or 6

22 611 Imperial Hills 14 13x

No worries Sunbay. I had to ask someone on the Betfair forum a few weeks back. I'm no expert on these things.

Can anyone explain why in this instance the handicapper has a free rein in what penalty he can give the horse?

I think in England this should not have happened, this kind of races with the weights in advance use to have a penalties estipulated.

He has discretion to correct earlier observations based on new evidence. Hills would get nowhere near the race withput the penalty and I understand WPM won't be too put out.

I seem to remember that his father's Clegg House was rasied 42LBs by the British handicapper after he won at Chelt several years ago.

I'd watch out for Deutchland if he ran.

Imperial Hills at 8's does look serious value.

I was at Leopardstown Lexus day and seen Imperial Hills race. One that might be worth a small each way bet is Siege of Ennis. I backed him in that race and kept my eye on him up the straight. He stayed on like a train. Maybe he needs further, maybe he was being pulled, i really have no idea, but at 25's i'll be having a small few quid ew. His record of 1 win in 9 hurdle starts and 0 wins from 19 flat runs doesn't inspire confidence, but he took off like a rocket under Carberry in the last 2f's or so.

Interesting they are not bothering to claim off Newmill...bit bizarre that but I guess thats the trainer for you.

I think its between Fen Game and Imperial Hills. Imperial Hills travelled like a very classy horse last time out and only just did enough in front but Fen Game is worth a little saver given the massive turn around in weights though he would not want too much rain to fall.

Fen Game clear pick on the weights ,
I imagine A. McNamara is not able to do such a low weight, 12/1 is a massive price.

ive had another look and added fen game to my list

i prefer physco but i cant recall martin winning a big handicap when he has the joint favorites i know different owners

Usually a better supporting card than whats in store tomorrow. This time last year we had Glencove Marina put up that stunning display in slamming Fingeronthepulse in the novice chase. Seems longer than a year since that.

In the opening beginners chase I think Majestic Concorde will be well schooled for this and should be hard enough to beat. Also like Sky's The Limit in the big chase, returns from a break. Trip and ground should suit as well.

In the big one I have added Wanango e/w to Fen Game and Imperial Hills.

I like the look of Jigalo in the opener - big weight though, could he shrug it off? What class was his win lto? - comparable?

Very wet and blustery at the course.

Here are my winners for today.

1. Jamid.

(PS.. I wonder how much JP paid for those three?)

2. Financial Reward
3. Skys the Limit
4. Splurge
5. Badgerlaw
6. Mission Possible
7. Elegant Concorde
