It has to be a myth. If not, criminals all over the country will be typing that in to distract the police while their mates are commiting the real crimes.

Now now boys - nofighting over who is showing me up better......

guess if you think about it properly itd never be a goer - Ive hgad a long, very windswept day and I think my brain has fallen out!!!

Trudi it was not posted to belittle..... mine was posted to tell you and others that it was a current myth doing the rounds ...we all have been linked one way or the other with some other kind of myth sent via emails I know I have... so not guilty ma lady....... ;)

I would key in any wrong PIN. I think I'm right in thinking if you do it three times the machine will keep your card and/or refuse you the money. Statistically, the chances of a mugger resorting to violence are relatively low. They're more likely to accept they've hit a dead end and move on, at which point you can contact the polis. I'd certainly risk it but I know if they try violence they'll have a scrap on their hands!

Probably the best ploy is to roll your eyes up, clutch your chest, groan 'aaaggggghh' and fall to the ground, twitching horribly and drooling. That just might put off the casual attacker!

My old pin number was 3553. There must have been van loads of police arriving at the ATM everytime I took out a few quid.
