Yes - sad, lonely, ancient hag that I am, I need to solicit e-mails, from anyone, anywhere... well, one or two of those descriptions are right, but the prob is that although I've sent e-mails out since I got the new pc, I haven't received any, and no-one's acknowledged those I sent. Now. y'all might be trying to tell me something, but if you would like to remain in cybertouch, could at least ONE of you who has my e-mail address, please bung a quickie off, just to see if the latest piece of equipment is really working? Pleeeease?

The account shown for Outlook Express says ' NTL ACCESS ' and I'm wondering if that's right? It's been so long since I had mail I can't recall what my default showed previously. Maybe it should be my e-mail address?

The usual assistance from any forumites will be much appreciated - could you PM me to say you've sent the e-mail when you have, please, because otherwise I won't know that you've sent it, if it doesn't arrive. Erm, as it were... :brows:

Cheers, chaps. Brian, I'm sorry I missed the card. If it was you dressed as Santa, I'm doubly sorry... Shadow Leader just sent me one, and it hasn't turned up. I checked the McAfee to insure it's vicious Spamkiller wasn't killing the e's on arrival, but that seems all right. Maybe my default is set wrong. I don't want to touch anything in case I lose everything! Brian, did you get a 'thank you' e-mail from me after you sent me the horsey e-mail? You should've done. And James, I've also e-mailed you since getting the pc - did you receive anything?

This is looking a bit dire.

Yes, I received your reply that time. It seems to me that you may have inadvertently set your security too high. The card that I sent didn't bounce back, nor has it the second time, so it's sitting there somewhere. You only have the one address, don't you? Otherwise it's a question of changing addresses and looking at the others. Should you have more than one, I sent the email to the main one.

(It was Santa, but it wasn't me - he was flashing...)

Jon on Outlook Express you need to click on Tools, then Accounts, then the ALL tab which lists your e-mail addresses. Highlight the main one from your current ISP, then click properties and work through the tabs making sure all info is up to date.
The servers tab is of particular importance where the entries are for incoming mail (POP3) and outgoing mail (SMTP).

Dom - I obviously don't count either as I did not receive aforementioned Christmas greeting - so I shall just sit at my PC in a permanent sulk!

Omigosh, what have I started? Troods, please be assured everyone loves, adores, respects and admires you. :D All the time. :) Any time. Everywhere. There, feel any better now? ;)

Thanks for the info, folks. Still haven't recd. any e-mails but I'm going to play around with the settings as suggested and see what happens. I may be some time... :(

I changed the settings that my professional IT (yes, paid zillions of grand to do this sort of thing!) chum set up for me (as suggested, thanks so much!) and now have TWENTY FIVE messages! I will definitley "be some time" sorting them out now. Thanks again for sending them, everyone. What an absolute star this forum is! :) :D
