What will Paul N. say to the owners when it's time for the Gold Cup?

To Harry & pal: we'll let him gallop them into the ground.
To Mr Smith: KS needs to keep well in touch with Denman, as he's bound to gallop on & KS will try to out do him for speed at the finish.

Well, maybe.

But, what does the trainer tell each set of owners? Does he share the advice between the 2 camps, or try to advise each separately & privately?

A quote from Harry Findlay in the Guardian after Denman's second Hennessy win:

"Two years ago we attacked for home early and that's how we beat Kauto Star. I don't know if we could do that again, but after what we've seen yesterday I'd make him favourite. Kauto Star had a hard race at Haydock. But who knows?"

Not that I want to start another debate about 2008 with this quote but I'm pretty sure the owners of KS and Denman know what to expect by now in terms of how both will be ridden to the best effect.

Quite so... each should, and I expect will, be given every chance of winning in their own right. No owner can take issue with this. A request from KS's connections to tie Denman's legs together would be frowned upon.

Kauto would need to be beaten some way in the King George for this to have any chance of happening.

Only this or an injury will see Ruby not partnering Kauto Star in the Gold Cup imo. Not a chance would he choose Denman over KS given a straight choice.
