After Blazing Bailey's win yesterday, Robert Thornton is reported on the Sporting Life site to have said :

"Thornton added: "I wasn't happy from about four out. The ground rode slower than I thought - it was nearly soft. ............."

Then on the RP site it reports :

Watering planned for hurdle track ahead of Friday's feature

by Racing Post staff

OFFICIALS atPunchestown were on Thursday night planning to water the hurdle track in advance of Friday's meeting which features the ACCBank Champion Hurdle.

The going was described "good" on Thursday after the track had been watered in the early hours of Thursdaymorning when none of the forecasted rain arrived. One heavy shower fell during racing.

Clerk of the course Joe Collins said: "We will putting some water on the hurdle course as it is fresh ground which hasn't been watered. We intend leaving the chase course alone. We are expecting very little rain, with only up to two millimetres forecast between now and the start of racing on Friday."

????

With the ground good yesterday and rain forecast for this morning they watered the hurdle course last night.

Are there no 'firm ground' hurdlers in Ireland or don't you get the chance to find out?
