The winner of the last at Punchestown -- a 4 year old. Given his name became common currency only at the back end of last year, how did he get it? Prescience?

It was his first race, so I am guessing he was named in the last few months.

You can change a horse's name any time until they first see the racecourse.

Dubai Millennium, for instance, was called Yaazer (sp?) until around two weeks before he hit the racecourse in Yarmouth in October of his 2yo year. He was doing so well at home that they decided to tempt fate with the name.

His name was on the box at the open daybu tobviously that could have been days before. Henderson's four year olds are putting in good runs at the moment. Worth keeping an eye on them.

BTB, quite correct, DM was originally called as Yazaar.

Someone should have told Dessie Scahill. He called the horse "Quanta-Teeva-Da-Easing" throughout the closing stages. He also called Stayclosetome "Stay Close To Home". Surely a humane bolt would be the kindest thing for him now?

Horses can be named in the few days before they run, they don't have to be named until an entry for a race is submitted for them (excepting some early closing races, usually Classics and sales races). The naming process only takes a few days and can be done in hours with the help of a fax machine!

It could have been named last week, although someone said it was named at the open day. That was only a few weeks ago though, it might only have been named the day before that!!

Just checked, definitely only purchased in the last few days. Horse was originally under Henderson's name as the owner as well.

Even if the horse was only registered as a change of owner in the last few days, that can often be very different to it only being purchased in such a timescale. Npt saying you're wrong, just pointing out the difference.
