Just a moan but .....

What is the logic behind Leopardstown staging two 21F handicap chases within one hour of each other tomorrow.

Surely the lesser one will have drawn runners away from the well established 'Carrickmines.'

In my view makes a mockery of planning a sporting attraction, or perhaps someone is clutching at straws.

Pennys Bill - the bottom weight in the Carrickmines - is rated 125 and is 7lb out of the handicap,

The top rated in the next race is 109 - there's no way that a trainer is gonna run in the horse in the Carrickmines that's effectively two stone out of the handicap. None of the horses in that race are good enough [or else they've got plenty in hand so beware of a gamble!}

I know a lad that couldn't get his horse into the better race and is too highly rated for lower race. Really stuck.

Such is life for the horse rated 120 ish to 140 in Eire. Too good for his own good and not good enough for anyone elses. a horse rated 117 ran in a good handicap hurdle 3 wks ago, finished 5th beaten 2 lengths and gets put up 1lb by handicapper. No prizemoney and a higher mountain to cross the next day.

Sadly there's no benefit to racing a horse on its merits on either side of the water unless you're in the top 2 or 3% that can contest Graded races for a few years.

Welcome to the forum btw edgt - just in time for Cheltenham :)
