I was thinking of this race and trying to nail the winner. Elm Park is interesting having won the Royal Lodge. Andrew Balding said he only worked moderately before that run, which would make that performance all the more impressive. Ordered tickets for the Fighting Fifth next month (never seen that at the Newcastle before), but still there is some flat racing until then.
I want to back the winner! Does anyone fancy anything for the RP trophy, or could suggest a market ? I will post declarations later tomorrow:lol:

I do like the Prescott runner. Whether he is good enough to beat whatever O'Brien decides to throw at it is another matter.

Both Ballydoyle horses take a big step in class. Giovanni Canaletto was staying on well when 3rd in his maiden two weeks ago but this race may come a bit soon for him?

Royal Navy Ship and Jacobean have something to prove, whilst the Prescott horse being green last time in that listed race puts me off big time.

I'm all over Elm Park truth be told.

5/2 with a few firms now Marb, and looks a price worth taking.
Looks an assured runner, connections think the world of him, already has 20lb in hand (RPR and T/S) of the Coolmore entrants, and likely to improve further for softer ground than Newmarket. The forecast heavy rain in the area Friday should see off the Prescott challenger, and it's hard to see what's not to like about him, or his current price.

20/1 on Restorer looks a rick by Corals to me EW. This could cut up quite badly if O'Brien takes a few of his out, and ground could be testing which might put off a few more. Restorer shows plenty of knee action and will be suited by any further easing of the ground. He's been supplemented for this so very unlikely that he won't make the line up.

I really like the way he shaped in the Autumn Stakes too - coming from a lot further back than the winner and doing it from out wide. Thought at that meeting, and it is sometimes the case on the Rowley Mile in the autumn, that a prominent position against the far rail was a help - so if that's the case, Restorer could be upgraded a bit more. Has a little to find, but circumstances conducive to him doing so so having a bit of a go at him.

Nice shout! Now best price 10/1.

Looks like the 2 runners of O'Brien that were scheduled to run are heading to Leopardstown instead. Either or both of Aloft and Jacobean set to step in.
Thought Jacobean ran a nice debut.

Yeah he did... but that was only two weeks ago. Jacobean will have to be both extremely forward and genuine to beat Elm Park, imho.
At 7's or 8's wouldn't put anyone off but never in a million years at 7/2!

Elm Park banker material for acca's this weekend!

They really fancy this Elm Park. I wanted to take him on but the stable confidence is stopping me. I like Jacobean and Celestial Path but I'm just going to watch this.
