Rebekkah Brooks

I wonder do they finally have something on her.

It gets worse and worse for Cameron. You'd have to think he has a lot of work to do to get elected again - if the other brother got in, he would already have no chance. When Ed is outwitting you 4/5 times on the trot, you know you are in trouble..

Select committee not very happy with the police's timing.

She might not be able to testify in front of them now. I think the inference is that the police don't want her evidence out in the open yet.

Mick/Rebekah - why, they could be twins! Brilliant - I just love the way imaginative minds get these things out so fast.

It sure enough stinks of protective hand-holding under the table by government, police, and powerful media - oh, yes, let's phone up and ask her if it'll be convenient for us to pop round after croissants and coffee and pick her up. Say we've arrested her (laughter) and want to, er, question her. You know, who does her hair, where she buys her clothes, does she think Prada is still on trend, yadda-yadda. The select committee (more laughter) can go play with itself in the meantime, and all of us will be receiving lifetime subs to Sky, and some very nice presents in brown envelopes, lads. (Applause. cries of hear, hear, followed by first verse of 'Advance, Australia Fair'.)

Max Clifford said the other day when commenting on her editorialship/journalism 'she wasn't scared to tell people what she thinks unlike many who tell people what they want to hear'.

I respect his right to hold that opinion, but this is a women who was part of an organisation that changed their political viewpoints any given day of the week depending upon an up coming election.

Yes, she adopted what were bascially some pretty popular and bombproof campaigns, some of which such as the campaign for soldiers has now been discredited by the NOTW's own actions, but outspoken? A world leader in telling it how it is? Give me a break, she's no Mo Mowlam.

On another note, looking back at some of the predictions on how this crisis would pan out from correspondents on news channels has shown up some of our so called 'experts' for some lazy and ill-thought out thinking.

One's insight into this about two weeks ago (someone by the name of Ryan Ross on the BBC) was that 'now NOTW last edition will be going out, this will make it easier for News Corp to gain total control of Sky, especially if Murdoch opens another sunday newspaper called the Sunday Sun.'

Not only was it folly to suggest the closure of the NOTW would in anyway help the Murdoch bid for Sky, there is a Sunday Sun already up in geordieland which will have it's name patented. You'll get more vision and insight on events like this out of Steven Wonder than many in the media, who have become accustomed to dishing out the bad news on other people and professions rather than themselves.

It's a funny old world isn't it? The traditionalists have been arguing that the injuctions by the super rich are a complete joke (and rightly so in my opinion), so therefore the media shouldn't be regulated, and then this comes along. No doubt Ryan Giggs and a few other morally bankrupted souls will claim they were hacked as well.

Good points, Marble. Great quote I saw the other day, although can't remember by whom: "The News of the World is assisting the police with its investigations, which makes a change from the other way round."

Just about every edifice of the Establishment is being shown up as a busted moral flush: politicians fiddling expenses like some third-rate salesman, Prince Andrew available for half a million, the police being paid to give hacks access to private information, any amount of churchmen in assorted Christian ministries found guilty of kiddy-fiddling, care homes which make a sport out of kicking the old and vulnerable into submissive filth, hospitals which regularly poison their patients with deadly viruses or wrongly-dispensed drugs, endless quangos made up of the old boy network which cost millions to run and come up with nothing... on and on and on it goes...

Koff-koff! Oh yes, the word 'whore' is so easily confused with 'Brooks', innit? Marvellous stuff!

Later, on RTE, "... Rupert C*nt (koff-koff!) I'm sorry, Murdoch went on to say... "
