The state of this racecourse and its diet of atrocious racing is surely one of the most depressing of modern racing .

Leslie Petch will be revolving in his grave at the state it is in - the Vaux Gold Tankard , Andy Capp Handicap and William Hill Gold Cup long since gone .

David Carr's piece on the Racing Post website says it all .
 
I wonder if it is a policy of the management company. It is noticeable that the same firm runs Wetherby and we all know the criticism they have had over their prize money.
 
It's all a result of the Horsemans Tarriff ie. minimum values per grade of race. You'll never guess who sets the grade of each race - that's right, the racecourses.

Downgrading all their Maidens, Auction Maidens etc. will only result in them spending less money on prize money yet still adhering to what owners and trainers keep telling us they want.
 
cjboy - I had not noticed that the same gang that have sent Wetherby through the floor quality wise run Redcar - no surprise though.
