Following on from a conversation today in the office reminiscing about such things as BBC computers I had a little look to see if I could find a version of the classic game Repton online. We used to play it for hours as teenagers in our lunch hours, it was highly addictive stuff. Anyhow, very quickly I found a downloadable version. :D

Here goes (warning - it can be very addictive!!) :

Repton

Enjoy!!!! B)

As much as it pains me to admit it, I used to run around the house cheering after spending hours and hours trying to crack a level and finally getting the password to the next one.

Spot the mug.....completed the first three levels on the trial version - so paid $39 or something similar to download the full games of Repton 1 & 2. Happy days - this is great stuff!!!!! :D

Gareth, you are a legend!!!!!! I could vividly remember a game we used to play at primary school all the time at the age of about 6 or 7 but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. Granny's Garden of course!!!! :D

I'm impressed you can remember the commands too - my memory's shite!!

It is threads like this that make me feel old . I thought that Repton was a boys public school for people who could not get into Eton .

The only difference between Repton and Guantanamo Bay Ardross is that Repton isn't worth escaping from. Miles of nothing outside apart from the ghost town of Belper, at least you get a sea view at Guantanamo Bay!

Ah that was legendary! Whoever finished their work first could log on to the ancient Acorn computer and play one of those class games. There was another one like Grannys Garden which we had, something about a robber called Baz who for some reason I cant remember was in the North Shields run?

I had a BBC B as a kid. The two games I remember playing for hours on end were Elite and Football Manager. Can honestly say I'd never heard of Repton before, though it sounds like I would have spent many a precious hour on that too!

You've never heard of Repton?!! I know you live a sheltered life but that's ridiculous!! :P As the website says, "Well, unless you've been living under a rock for the last fifteen years, and have never even heard of a BBC Microcomputer, you probably know all about Repton."

I have never heard of Repton but used to play Frogger, Snapper, Pole Position, Mr. E and many others for hours on end. Granny's garden rocked too.

Yes but those weren't computer games - you could get two years in chokey for any of them
