Reynoldstown Novices' Chase

Excellent - an opportunity to mention for the 27th time that I was at Windsor on 19th January.

I actually thought Lowry's Bar jumped better than Jingo Blue for most of the race, but a bad mistake three out did for him.

I will be interested to see how they both fare on this occasion.

Interesting race this one. In theory a 5lb pull should enable Lowry’s Bar get his own back, particularly since he had messed up three out which put him on the back foot. On the other hand Jingko Blue won fairly readily and probably had some in hand.

Henderson has said that Peaky Boy sat at his novice top table, but then he lost him to Jonjo. If that worries him overmuch tomorrow I’d expect Jingko Blue to be quite weak in the market.

The Changing Man has come second three times in a row and earned almost the same RPR 146, 146, 145 so he seems stuck at that level, which seems to need the others to mis-fire.

Leave of Absence should improve for his seasonal debut. On his first run for Honeyball then, he must have shown him enough to try him at this level.

I suppose the value bet looks like Lowry’s Bar, but I generally go with winners to hold on again and I will probably do so this time unless Jingko Blue drifts. If he does and it’s not because Lowry’s Bar has strengthened I might risk a few pennies on Peaky Boy

I think I've backed TCM the last twice and I suspect he doesn't want to go past the leader. If I'm wrong and he goes and wins it will be three times the bastert will have cost me.

I think Jingko Blue is the best horse in the race, but I really wasn't that thrilled with the way he jumped when I saw him at Windsor.

If he jumps better this time, he will pulverise them all but, if he doesn't and Lowry's Bar can avoid the kind of blunder he made three out (after out jumping Jingko Blue up until that point imo), the 5lb pull might get the jolly in trouble.

Didn't realise you were at Windsor Ian thought you'd of mentioned it before now,

How will the handicapper react.

I hope he doesn't push The Changing Man up too much. I hope connections consider the Ultima.

Knowing this game they'll send him for the Grade 1 Novice Chase.

I don't think he'll do anything. The race fell apart and he only beat the rag a fraction of the distance he should have.

Victtorino has just franked the Howden Silver Cup form nicely.

I'd give him a chance myself if as I think he could hit peak form at the right time.

I will not try and talk you guys into it!

The Changing Man raised only 2lbs for Saturday.

That seems pretty fair for connections, given how far he won.

He's now rated 140.

Needless to say, if connections take in the 3 mile grade 1 chase, instead of the Ultima, (regardless of what chance we collectively give him in the Ultima), this will be one of the worst race choices I've ever seen in my 25 years or so following the game.

I'm sure the decision won't be too hard to make.
