I know it's a teatime show and therefore likely to be seen largely by 'at homes', but it's surprising how many young people - especially male - enter as contestants.  True, they're a bit geeky and usually wearing green knitted jersey Chums shirts, but the appeal at competition level seems anything but blue rinse.  If I hadn't subscribed to RUK as well as getting ATR, I'd still be noodling away in the afternoons, searching for a nine-letter word out of GUTIVESFI.


I think Countdown would be helped along by Graham Norton or Julian Clary - older ladies love squealing camp men.  (Or so I hear.)
