Since nobody's raised a cheer for the lad, it's worth noting that Richard Johnson notched up his 2,000th win yesterday with FIGHTING CHANCE at Newbury. Runner-up eleven times to Tony McCoy in the championship, he's apparently relieved to get the landmark out of the way, and paid sincere praise to his agent, Dave Roberts, for helping him to achieve it. It's a terrific achievement when you consider the cancelled meetings, and the amount of UR/BD/F's et al along the way to this milestone.
