The passing of this man marks a sad day for racing.
I don't believe I met the man myself but I was fortunate enough to spend a bit of time last year at his Elwick Stud. Even if one ignores his vast presence as an owner, this facility alone is a very tangible testament to both the sincerity and substance to the commitment and passion he had for a sport which will be much poorer for his passing.
Sincerest condolences to his family, friends and well-wishers and may his impact on the world endure.
