RIP Patrick McGoohan

ah, thats a real shame..RIP...great actor

I used to love watching Dangerman as a kid..and obviously The Prisoner

seem to remember he was a contender for Bond at one time...he would have been good i reckon

one film from the late fifties/early sixties worth checking out is..HELL DRIVERS...you seen it DVDS?.....he plays a right rough bugger in it...totally unlike the suave later characters he played.

I missed this and didn't see any reports on it. aren't they in production of a remake of The Prisoner at the moment?

Sacrilage. They can't remake it. McGoohan is number six end of.

I knew someone who used to drink with Patrick in the 60's (no easy task). He said he was the most intense, on edge guy he'd ever met, but then those with a toch of genius about them often have quirks galore. To my anorak shame I do actually have the Prisoner box set, although haven't worked it all out yet. Every week the programme just got more and more bizzarre and even had an episode banned in the US for its alleged allegorical comment on the Vietnam war and it's encouragement of draft dodging.

I'm rather hoping he might have left an explanation as to what the Prisoner was all about as he constantly refused to do so in life, and rarely gave an interview on the subject
