RP online notes that the BBC is to start filming a 6-part drama next month, set in Co. Kildare, which will include coverage of Irish race meetings. Surely a chance for our Irish representatives to be hired as extras, lounging louchely as colourful characters, glugging the Guinness, and generally playfully paddywhacking around?

Though it's 12 years since 'Trainer' failed to ignite the public's imagination, apparently the Beeb is willing to take this punt on another racing drama, because, almost in their own words, Irish people love racing and haven't got much drama on their tellies, poor owd sods. The story is called 'Rough Diamond', the name of the hero horse, who is in the charge of a struggling trainer and uncontrollable, until the return of a long-lost son...

Starring:

An Capall as the struggling Trainer

Gearoid as the Long-Lost Son

Solerina as Possible Love Interest

Irish Stamp as Rough Diamond

From what I've read about it, the plot-line and title don't get many marks for originality but I suppose we must try to approach it with an open mind.

Dims - er, yes, I was aware of that... :brows: ... and that Irish Stamp is actually a human, too!

DG - my most grovelling apologies. Perhaps one of the less moderate Moderators would like to bin this entire thread, then.

You were fabulous, darlink. What do those no-talent, ugly, spiteful, jealous critics know? Get out there and knock 'em dead!
