Brilliant strategic insight from Saeed Bin Suroor going into Royal Ascot: “All the horses are in good form and obviously some of them are entered in different races”.

This seems so much more sensible than entering them all for the King Stand Stakes, for example. It’s this kind of in depth probing reporting that’s so useful to us all.

Always feel it is a waste of time showing his interviews, I can't understand him.

I appreciate he is speaking a foreign language to him but if he can't be understood why show them?

Have to admit if I was interviewed I'd be monosyllabic.:o

Steve, SBS meant that some of the horses were entered in more than one race, or were you totally aware of that and simply pointing out the ambiguity of his English? Not up to your usual perspicacity. (I hope you enjoy both the English and the compliment.)

SBS takes so much knocking that I just felt I had to stand up for him here, even though he is certainly no favourite of mine.

...carry on sticking up for him Nef, after all he's been responsible for more Group 1 winners than I have. It made me laugh though, as much for the banality of the reporting... and yes I did get the double meaning, I was just being [less than] hilariously funny.:p

It's the interviewer's job to pull the sense out of it, though. I couldn't understand a word Kevin Manning rattled off to Gary O'Brien the other night, and he is (apparently) a native English speaker. Subtitles for the Irish, please.

(Exit, pursued by a bear.)
