I wonder who is more desperate for a winner - Hughes or Moore ? Both of whom have had pretty nightmare first two days .

I suspect that Rite of Passage will win the GC - he is much the best horse , all we need is for his legs to stand up to the race - to win 2 GCs three years apart would be awesome. The favourite Wentworth should cheer Hughes up in the Britannia , the Tercentenary looks hot all round.

I like Indian Chief and the Dante looks a better race now than it did at the time but I am a bit concerned that he mightn' stay. He seemed to be treading water in the last half furlong at York.

Impressive as Remote was last time out he's very short here.

Agree with that. I was never as critical of the Dante form as many and it's turned out to be pretty good so Indian Chief will do for me.

Either of the Haggas pair could win the first at decent odds.

Wentworth's presence means that Cape Peron is a backable price and Llaregyb also looks worth an interest in the same race.

Saddlers Rock looks like he'll get his ground in the Gold Cup and I backed him ages ago but it's slightly disconcerting to hear Oxx talking on the Morning Line just now about a small setback about three weeks ago.

Coach House has been rock solid in the first since last night and interesting that PP have been in no rush to offer any "money back should the favourite win" concession etc.

5.35 Pether's Moon thought to be better than current h'cap mark by connections. Problem is that could apply to 15 other horses in this race.

I like the angle. No bet race for me though. Hills were going 7/2 about Camelot yesterday, which said it all

Saddler's Rock to finally win the Gold Cup...really fancy it on the prevailing ground. Loves the firm ground and we are all aware that Oxx usually only hits the UK when he has a decent chance.

Saddlers Rock a place lay for me. Tricky horse, always thought JPM got the best out of him. DMcD a big negative for me.

He's a funny horse is Saddler's Rock. Needs a strong pace, and these staying races on the Flat don't play to his strengths. Would like to see them geld him for starters, that could help, but then there's also the possibility of hurdling. The small fields in Ireland might not suit, but easy to see him going well as the spring Festivals on better ground with a stronger pace.

When you hear of a horse being touted as a possible hurdles prospect you know it's time to draw stumps!

I hope Richard Hughes doesn't have a cat - after the last three days it is likely to be getting one hell of a kicking . Pethers Moon would surely have gone very close .

A very special day's racing though with story after story .

I still think Rite of Passage would have won the GC - and comfortably.

And Wentworth. That horse will remain well handicapped; he was about the only horse out the back to get close.

Indeed, and unlike Stirring Ballad Hughes had little choice from his draw once the jockeys all rushed to the centre of the course this time.

Wentworth is a Group horse I suspect .
