OK the BBC have focused on the salacious sexual side of the story, but buried in there of course is the suggestion gamblers aren't safe to drive and that by stripping them of the license road accidents will fall

It reminds me of a thread Brian Hartigan started years ago when he asked for nominations for jobs that gamblers shouldn't be allowed to do. I remember it as I contributed Air Traffic Controllers

These Russians are of their trolley

Can't say Thailand is much better.

Just yesterday it was announced by some politician in Phuket that anyone who applies for a driving licence including renewals must now attend a driving school and sit a classroom test. Should they fail the test they will not be allowed to sit the actual driving test.

Because the country is so full of self important people making up these rules in their own area their law doesn't apply to the rest of the country as it didn't go through parliament.

I doubt if the character who made this one up even has the authority to do so and probably owns the school

I believe the article actually says pathological gamblers. Which, whilst an entirely different thing from gamblers per ce, is still a bit more debatable.

Just to play devils advocate. I don't think it would be unreasonable to argue that a pathological gambler is more likely to be an "amber gambler" (to use the 70's ad-ism), than the rest of society. Such risk taking is quite likely to be repeated in other areas of driving.

One could further argue that medically unwell voyeurs and exhibitionists are also perhaps, more prone to risk taking than others.

I'd struggle to make the case against transgender cases though.
