Given the minimal difference in price, the more civilised flight times and ACTUAL cities that each airline flies to, if you are planning to be in your destination for more than a day I think you are just as well flying with a non-budget airline.

My return flights from Gib to the London (Heathrow or Gatwick) on BA are rarely more than £120, given a months notice before flying.  The Monarch (a no-frills airline) flights go to Luton at less convenient times, with more likelihood of a cancellation and at pretty much the same cost.

Were I to fly Easyjet from Malaga, I would have to travel 130km to get to the point of departure, and fly at midnight just to get £30 off.  And I really object to the cattle-like situation at the gate.

I have taken good budget airline flights, but not since last December - before the checked-in luggage charges.
