Militant leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed in Baghdad.

And I was so hoping they would torture that bastard for 6 months before finally setting fire to him.

Zarqawi will be sorely missed. He worked tirelessly for charity and was a well-respected figure all around the globe. Tributes have, as expected, flooded in from all over the place....

"He was a great man. It was a pleasure to have known him and he will be remembered for a long time. America mourns his death." - President George W Bush

"I know I speak for everyone in Britain when I say we are all deeply saddened to hear of Abu's death. There will be a week of mourning in Britain starting tomorrow." - Prime Minister Tony Blair

"I am totally devastated. We owe him everything for getting our career where it is today in the Middle East. Despite his sad passing, our current world tour will continue and when it is over, we shall grieve in private." - Mick Jagger

"If it wasn't enough sadness having to come to terms with Ken's murder, the sudden death of Mr Zarqawi has sent the whole family into total disarray and uncontrollable grief. He will live on in our hearts and prayers." - The Bigley Family

From CNN ...

-- Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was alive when U.S. troops reached him after the U.S. bombing raid, but died "almost immediately" after, Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said.
