All of a sudden the flat season has come tumbling in with an avalanche of races. Quite bewildering and in no way do I feel confident enough to make any assertive selections. Accordingly, I offer up some speculative picks in order to share the pain of what will probably be a disaster. Be that as it may, there’s no denying the sport on show and I'll enjoy the watching. One winner would be a minor miracle, though, I’m sure.
I have a couple running that have entered the notebook:
Base note – 1.50 Lingfield 14/1 Ew
My note reads:
Global Skies – Ascot 3.45 12/1 Ew
Note entry:
I shall add a third to complete my main bets:
Gin Coco – Haydock 3.15 22/1 Ew
I like the look of his Ascot win in November and also his last run at Plumpton , where he gave a stone to the useful Our Champ after a three-month break. It was a good blowout and he weakened only at the last. Good value at the price.
3 x Singles
Ew Trixie
Elsewhere, I’ll be doing these:
Great Bedwyn – Ascot 1.30 16/1
Windtothelightning – Haydock 1.35 14/1
Rose Prick – Ascot 2.05 9/1
Mostabshir – Ascot 2.40 8/1
Ew L15
As I say, I'll be lucky to get one winner from that lot.

Yes, that’s the caveat here, isn’t it but I feel the price is tempting enough to draw me in.Strange to note one that’s finished 11th but this really was making up lots of ground here in the last furlong. Running off a mark of 105, which is 3Lbs heavier than his LWR, it could be he’ll come down a couple of pounds after this. Although his last win was over 10f, his previous three wins were over 12f so That would appear to be his trip. Anyway, he looks primed to be winning before long and the AW seems to be his preference.

This was the gelding’s first handicap. Held way off the pace, several lengths behind the others, the jockey seemed quite content with his position off what looked like a strong pace. Closed up on the group with 2f to go and then came under a drive. In the final furlong he was def catching the two leaders. It looks a clear case of will benefit from a longer trip. Seems to go in all grounds. A pleasing seasonal/handicap debut.
