Back from my short holiday in Spain: Bilbao in Basque country. While we were there, we visited the town of Gernika. The tragic events that occurred there in 1937 are etched on the memories of those that are old enough but to those of younger years, it means absolutely nothing; never heard of it. The highlight of my holiday, strangely enough, was in the Gernika museum where eyewitness accounts of that terrible Monday morning were shown on film: so, so moving. Tears.
