It’s been cold here in Norwich and we‘ve been entertaining a winter chill as we anticipate the new alphabet of storms to wash over us. Bert, we’re told, is our next visitor. I do prefer the current climate, don’t you? Cold and crisp. This morning, however, gives us Bert's milder temperatures and steady rain at Haydock. So, a going change at Haydock to soft ground, Ascot remains good.

National hunt sits snugly within the winter scene and there’s nice sport on offer, isn’t there.

I should be careful, mind; it’s early days. I’ll be having a flutter, of course, but I think the racing, essentially, will be about watching and noting. It’s good quality stuff and, hopefully, it’ll plant a few seeds that may bear fruit as the season unwinds.

Funnily enough, I’d say my punt of the day might be on the flat: Mondammej (7.10 (Newcastle ). I can’t believe he’s running in a class five handicap.
Otherwise, here’s a few I’ll be combining variously:

Hill Crest – Haydock 1.50 7/1 Ew

What Path – Ascot 2.05 25/1 Ew

Capodano – Haydock 3.05 12/1 Ew

Fontaine Collonges – Haydock 3.40 7/1 Ew

4xEw singles
Ew L15

Kotmask – Ascot 3.20 6/1 Ew

Mum’s Tipple – Wolverhampton 6.55 16/1 Ew

Mondammej – Newcastle 7.10 11/1 Ew
Ew Patent

A few fancies and I’ll see how it goes.
