Saturday’s NH racing is the proper stuff, without doubt.

The season so far has felt a little tepid to me, if I’m honest. However, the racing over the UK today looks truly sumptuous and I think my NH juices have started to flow (not an analogy to dwell on, I confess ha).

You know, when I look at the Hennessey, I’m reminded of Orbaan winning the Golden Mile this last flat season. Strange? Bear with me.

In the 2021 Mile, Orbaan had been all dressed up with nowhere to go and surely would have won with a clear run. Connections might have been saying: “We’ll come back next year and win it”. Win it they did, after managing his mark.

I wonder if, after last year’s Hennessey, connections of Remastered were muttering the same prediction. Going ominously well in the race (OR 146), Remastered fell four out. To many race watchers, he was the one for the notebook.

So, here we are again: the Hennessey. This time round he’s rated at 142: 4Lbs less than last year. His fall in that race is the only one suffered in his twenty three races under rules.
He won over hurdles lto after a wind op and If he’s in peak condition, as he appears to be,

Remastered (3.05 Newbury) Ew will do for me. Yes, An excellent run for connections it was the ground that did for him. No complaints from me: he jumping very well indeed.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on:

Senior Citizen (1.20 Newbury) Again, I have no complaints. I thought he acquitted himself well in the jumping department. As Outsider pointed out, The Aintree fences are probably the target.

Although nine years old, he’s lightly raced, isn’t he, having had just the fourteen races under rules? Today, he races off 135, which is a pound more than his LWR, for sure, but there may be more to come from this one.

Looking back eighteen months, he ran a cracker behind Umbrigado over this course. What a time that was, if you look. Although the race was some time ago, he was rated 134 that day and I think there may be a few more pounds to be had with this 9yo gelding yet.

More recently, we saw him run on behind Mac Tottie at Aintree in April off 143.Given his mark of 135 in this, he must be worth a look at 16’s, don’t you reckon?

At Newcastle, for us chasing fans, there’s the Rehearsal: a race I love. Last year I backed Aye Right and he obliged for me, I’m happy to recall. I was really taken with his jumping that day and it was that aspect that won him the race: a superb round.

He raced off 151 that day and here we see him upped to 157 (and only won last year’s by a head). However, I will stick with the fellow. His jumping last year made a very strong impression and I would trust him to put his best hoof forward. Never travelled at all and wasn't happy from tapes up. His jumping, so often reliable, was sketchy and this was a bad day at the office.

I have to say, this NH sport is just dandy, isn’t it?
There are more I’ll have my beady eyes on through the day (Can’t help myself)

Lounge Lizard (1.28 Bangor) is an intriguing runner. Still an unfurnished baby, to my eyes, who needs to fill his frame. There was a good deal of stable confidence, the way he was backed into favourite. One thing to note is his jumping; he loos a natural and he'll be one to follow for me. A proper stayer in the making imo.

He’s only five, has had only six hurdle races in his career and they bang him straight into chasing. Mind you, looking at the blood, it says chasing through and through, doesn’t it?. Interesting that they’ve pitched him into this race: not a poor contest, by any stretch. The betting has him short enough for a novice thrown into handicap company. It could be that this one has shown something at home. Trianer Daly has had 6 winners from his last 12 runners, too. Remarkably good form.
I’ll also be keeping tabs on Casa Tall (3.40 Newbury) and Malinello (1.35 Newcastle) Malinello was a good winner given how slowly the race was won. The breeding suggests marathon distance may well be the call and I'll certainly have him noted for the future. Importantly, he jumped like a good 'un. Only his 8th run under rules and 7yo.

Not a day for bankers but the sport is on and I can't wait.

Oh, A an afterthought, Hello Judge (12.30 Newcastle) is one I'm keeping a weather-eye on. And he ran very nicely. He's another lightly - raced sort (Only 6 runs under rules) and I fully expect the improvement to come. Has the right ownership ad trainer who know where they are with a chaser.

Very good read mate,as usual.
I was wondering if Senior citizen might be trying for a good mark for a return to the topham but I see where you are coming from.
