My race for tomorrow is the 12.10 at Cheltenham.

There are two geldings involved that I have noted this season.

Firstly, Fire Dancer. He's certainly in the ownership of someone who knows the time of day. The horse jumped nicely when winning lto and although he idled in front, showed distinct promise. Lightly-raced, He looks a worthy favourite. [B]A poor, poor show, wasn't it? I expected much better. Seemed to go out like a light. Maybe they'll try holding him up next time.

Secondly, Malinello, a horse that I've mentioned before en blog. I've been of the opinion that marathons will be his game so tomorrow's distance may well prove a bit sharp. Given that, he's worth an ew shout.
I think this will be stepped up in trip now. Yesterday was happening too quickly. I see he's entered for the Brown's Advisory at the Festival over 3m and also the National hunt Challenge Cup over 3m 6f.

I wonder if a tilt at the Whitbread might be on the cards.

A previous comment:

Malinello - Newbury 3.35 6/1 Ew

"Malinello was a good winner given how slowly the race was won. The breeding suggests marathon distance may well be the call and I'll certainly have him noted for the future. Importantly, he jumped like a good 'un. Only his 8th run under rules and 7yo."

So, even though he'll need further in time, this trip is about the same as lto and I'd be hoping for a true test of stamina. I see that top weight Bold Endevour made all lto, as did Nothin To Ask. Unanswered Prayers made just about all, too. It looks like pace will not be an issue. I would hope that this will play to Malinello's fortes: stamina and jumping.
