Not much to write when it comes to bloggery this Saturday.

We have an absolute feast of racing yet, to my eyes, there's not much standing out from the a-la-carte menu.

Most of what I see over the undercards are low grade, low distance races so beloved of the bookies and little wonder; they must be money spinners for them. I have learnt, mind, to steer well clear of such punter traps overall. It's taken many, many years but I've learnt to brush past most of the cl5 & 6's, a lot of the 3yo races, just about all of the 2yo races, just about all of the maiden stakes. What am I left with, you may ask?

Well, I think that's the point: There's precious little left. Certainly week days provide hosts of unbackables and it's only the weekends that offer proper fare for an old fuss-pot like me.

Having confessed all that, there is not one bet I would have confidently today. I have, though, been alerted to a few but I wouldn't be going full - tilt on these at all. They would be loose fancies that I'll back in the merest of L15's. All four are alert jobs but all are, really, insurance bets.

Kerdos - Sandown1.50 0/30
Mirsky - Sandown 2.25 9/1
Arctic Grey - Sandown 4.12 18/1
Max Mayhem - Sandown 5.15 9/1

So, a tiny Ew L15 on those will have to suffice and Ill see how I get on.

I'll have a tiny, tiny ew on Prince Of The seas Hay 2.05, too.

I agree with your sentiments on today's cards, they are underwhelming from my betting perspective. I'll mostly save up for next Saturday's feast of racing.

Good luck with your bet.

That race just finished at Haydock...

For the record, I was on the runner-up but if I'd backed Valiancy I'd be spitting blood. I'd thought about backing it but the jockey booking put me off and I'm so glad it did. It looked to me, rather than a 'bad ride', a good ride assuming something else down the line is the plan. I'm not sure about quantifying a mark-up but it will have a '++' next to its rating for me.

Maybe something at Goodwood?

At first glance, the pace wasn't good - 10 secs slower than ave although the second very nearly won after coming from the back. It didn't look as if Harry was too boisterous on Valiancy mind. Maybe 2m will be the call in future.

I've just posted about Oisin's ride on Mirsky at Sandown. What are your thoughts on that one, Maurice?

Aftertiming alert, I was on Classic and Greek Order in that race so wasn't paying too much attention to Mirsky other than noticing it coming in from out wide. I'll need to watch the race again but I reckoned if my two ran their races they'd have it between them. Greek Order might have been second with a better draw.

Just watched the race pretending I was on Mirsky.

I'm inclined to think he tried to give Mirsky every chance but had to use up too much petrol to go prominent from out wide and I think when he asked it he realised it wasn't closing on Classic and gave it an easy time in the final furlong, looking after it rather than not trying, for me.

Knowing O'Meara, I imagine Mirsky will turn up in the Golden Mile and if he gets a good draw will be in the mix.

I thought exactly that, really except that it looked like he dropped his hands at the very first opportunity and it looked like a Golden Mile prep really.
