Some good ones to look for.

Strong Leader - 1:02 Uttoxeter, 11/8 atm - blew the field apart in a few strides on his debut bumper at Warwick and then came from way back to finish strongly at Cheltenham three weeks ago, although he couldn’t catch the Irish raider (who must be good). Should see off this lot with ease if he can handle the jumping on his hurdle debut.

Luccia - 4:05 Cheltenham, 15/8 atm - is really highly thought of by Henderson and she should take this, although it’s probably just a final bumper prelude to her hurdle debut. She is opposed by Queen’s Gamble who is also highly regarded.

“ I think she's special and she showed that with a mesmerising display at Sandown, but she has a habit of locking her stifle and we nearly lost her one day in the spring. We've got to keep our fingers crossed but she seems to have made a full recovery, so can hopefully take high rank over hurdles. She's grown two inches and looks fantastic, while her schooling has been superb, so she could be anything.”

Tommy’s Oscar - 1:45 Cheltenham, 7/4 atm - improved by leaps and bounds as a hurdler last season and his debut chase with one opponent did little more than show he can jump fences. This one is a much better test, although it’s a shame Monmiral has withdrawn.

One other I’m interested in watching is Wiseguy - 3:30 Cheltenham - on his return from injury.

On the fun side I think Mister Fisher has his conditions to run well in the Paddy Power, so EW to five places and 16/1 has its attractions.

Interesting comment from Henderson today about Luccia which waters down somewhat his stable tour comments (above).

“ She was very impressive in a Listed Bumper at Sandown in the spring but I’m afraid that race couldn’t have worked out any worse and she seemingly beat nothing. However, she doesn’t know that and she is a mare we think quite a lot of. I thought it was kinder to give her another run in a bumper, just to get her going again, before we go hurdling because she jumps very well. She is a high class mare.”

Strong Leader looked like a kid at primary school at the hurdles, but there was no stopping him once they were out of the way. Bags of potential, I think, but jumping needs to be sorted out. Started odds-on from last night’s 11/8 so there was plenty of support, but I didn’t add.

Luccia was withdrawn so it was left to Queen’s Gamble to do the business which she did very impressively. She looks class and I can’t wait to see her over hurdles.

Tommy’s Oscar jumped and ran ok, but had no answer to the winner who was superior across the board and quite impressive. TO looked as though he would have lost second to Glory and Fortune who was bang there at the second last where he unshipped Stan Sheppard which was some going having crashed his way through the tops on the way round. Think I’ll put him in the notebook.

Wiseguy performed quite well and clear of everything but the winner who was easily superior. He’ll find a race, I think.

Mister Fisher tipped up two out, but he’d already lost position and was never really in it. I think he’s maybe racing with the American Grand National in mind, so I won’t be tempted by him again.
