I`ve had maybe half a dozen rows at the station in the last year or so and four of those have been with shoutie Scottish women.

Yesterday at work i dispatched a train heading to Scotland (the job was up the wall, points problems leading to only three platforms in operation) and i was confronted by a shoutie Scottish woman [TM] who was irate as i`d sent the train with her 12 year old daughter onboard and the rest of her brood and herself still on the station. Her attitude meant she was getting no help from me and our row culminated in me calling her a "typical whining Jock" in front of a crowd of people. She was none too pleased.

Bloody Hell Euro  I'd have that admission edited if I were you. If she reports you and gets a few witnesses together, you could be a seriously hot water

I'm getting hacked off with trains. I couldn't tell you the amount of stations where the disabled access stands out through the lack of it - try getting up a flight of stairs, across a bridge and down the other side at Ealing sodding Broadway at around 7pm when you've about 4 minutes to get the train, on sticks and with a rucksack on, with hundreds of other people barging and not getting out of the way, not to mention two tossers that belted down the stairs and into me, nearly knocking me down them (they got hurled one hell of a lot of abuse!!) Ealing Broadway is a fairly big station, ffs! It's not the only one by a long chalk - I've come across quite a few that have no lifts, just stairs. As for the Tube - forget it!

Then yesterday morning I missed my connecting train as the first one was late - got in sight of the platform having sprinted (well, best I can) from the first train only to see the one I was supposed to be on moving off. That was annoying as the next one wasn't for another half an hour so I missed first lot. Mind you at least it wasn't till third lot that the guv'nor got decked, that was a sight worth seeing!!!

Getting back from Liverpool was fun and games after the National too - due to a fault at Rugby all trains from Liverpool to London were cancelled, on getting to Birmingham found the same scenario and due to engineering works between Oxford and Didcot we struggled get to Reading too.

Ah **** her. Sounds like she deserved a bit of abuse. Although I have to take exception to the "typical whining" bit. Having worked with a large group of people from Preston and Scouseland, I can honestly say that, as a generalisation, they whine a damn sight more than any similar group of Jocks.

A complaint is possible, witnesses are not. The train her daughter got on is usually one that goes off of one of our main platforms - it didn`t on the day in question because of points problems. It went off one of our local train platforms and so any witnesses would have been from the local area and she would have no way of getting in touch with them. After the initial confrontation (where she insisted i help her even though i was on the phone to the signal box at the time) i sent her to the customer information point and whipped my name badge off because i sensed she`d be back.

We have lifts, but still get moaned at because a lot of people seem incapable of reading signs and directions.

I can read, Euro!! No lifts at Ealing Broadway to get to the platform for the trains to Reading - nor any at quite a few other places I have been to. To be quite honest I can't say I'd even noticed the lack of lifts at some stations until I needed to.

You'll doubtless applaud the decision last week then Dom taken by the Directors of Network Rail to award themselves 6 figure bonuses for this year in recognition of their improved performance.

Ah..... don't you just love privatised monopolies and the increased efficiencies and productivity that the private sector can deliver through their supposidly superior business accumun and work place disciplines

It's been nearly six weeks - I was desperate to get out of the house after less than a week!!

Shadow, I assume this comment implies approval of animals returning to the track early following a bad injury?

Ha ha - I'm able to judge for myself what I can and can't do! I'm following doctor's orders in that I'm still on the damn sticks, haven't thrown them away yet!! He didn't tell me to stop in the house for 6 weeks!!

About 6 yrs ago a practice nurse was employed in the doctors I attend, I had to keep saying pardon every time she spoke!I was convinced she thought I was mutt&jeff, but I could not understand her, she comes from near Inverness, but now I do understand her took a while mind..... :)
