Hi Guys,

12h15 Preemptive Strike 5/1. Excuses last run and has dropped 10 pounds since last win.

12h50 Via Salaria 4/1. Dropped 3 pounds since win, jockey strike should be competitive here now running in low handicap.

14h05 Socrates 8/1. Been running against stronger was only just touched off by Mount Pleasant and has the beating of the rest if running to current form. Nice price

Preemptive Strike is a son of Twice Over out of an Oratorio mare. His sole win came in a Kenilworth maiden last February, after which he was rated 80. Runs off 70 today. The form of his penultimate outing at Greyville in November (off 71) is working out well with four coming out to win next time.

The 12:50 is a 0-92, but has the same prize pool(?)
Via Salaria is a 6yo gelding by Trippi (US - won Vosburgh Stakes in 2000). Appears to be running off 2lbs higher than when completing four timer at Greyville in July 2020 (rated 92 afterwards). Jockey 10% SR in last 50 rides at Scottsville.

14:05 is the "Marula Sprint" ((For all horses - Non-Black Type)) - Appears to be a conditions/WFA contest of some sort. Most valuable race on card at ZAR90,000 (all others are ZAR80,000)
Socrates 7yo gelding, rated 106, 5 wins for 27 starts, twice finished midfield in Group 2 contests. Sire Horse Chestnut was the damsire of Cannock Chase and Pisco Sour. Mount Pleasant won three races as a 2yo in 2020, including a couple of Grade 2s. Once rated 127 but now on 106. Reopposes here with Socrates 1lb better off for narrow defeat.
