After 53 starts, the legend that was Sergeant Cecil is being retired. After being a shadow of his former self this season, it seems very fair on the horse and congratulations to all connections on making the call.

The glory days may have been while ago, but they were fantastic. Hope the horse has a long and wonderful retirement. Thanks a lot Sergeant Cecil. :)

Mixed emotions as knew him well and loved him so much, but very very glad he goes in such great condition and know he will have a wonderful home. :)

If he did nto have a home Rod and his wife Lou would keep him there, but his owner Terry Cooper will keep him as the family pet. He does not actually live at home when on hols though, lives at a local farm, so not sure where he will be kept. But also they find problems with him at grass as he gets bored, loves people and is nosy as heck. Probably needs ome little job to do and to be ridden.

According to the Racing Post today, he'll be spending some time at The National Stud, so people will be able to go to visit him now that he's retired...which is nice!
