Sheikh Mohammed is in negotiations to purchase the Rothschild Stables in Chantilly from Ander Fabre.
The purchase fee is undisclosed but it is believed that the yard would be leased back to Fabre, who would stay on as the sheikh's main trainer in France.
"It will be business as usual for Andre Fabre and his staff," bloodstock advisor to the sheikh John Ferguson told the Racing Post.
"Alex Pantall, who also trains horses for Sheikh Mohammed in France, will continue to be supported in the usual way."
Sheikh Mohammed is planning to increase his French string to over 100 horses with the additions likely to come from yearling sales.
"Sheikh Mohammed enjoys France and French racing, and Andre Fabre has been a friend of his for many years," Ferguson said.
"This is a beautiful property with a great history."
