Not got much to lose.
Sorry I couldn't find a thread to put this on as didn't think it really was worth a thread on it's own, but it's stuck in my head so:
does anyone else think it's odd, which isn't the right word, but been a long week and I can't think of another one right now which would be appropriate but does anyone else think it's 'odd' that Sherwood is taking up a position as assistant to Harry Derham?
This just doesn't work in my head. Experience yes but I can't see why HD would go for him, or other than desperate not to be out of work that Sherwood would take this kind of position? I was told not that long ago that he is still feeling the financial effects of his divorce so would need a job.
Anyone help with reasons I can get my head round please?

I thought it was odd when he announced it back along - he’s taking a lot of his horses and staff with him I think, so maybe that’s the draw?

Guess he wants to stay involved in racing? Didn’t realise he’d got divorced from Tarnya? They were married a fair old time too. I know he’d recovered from cancer recently so possibly he wanted to just do less of the stress.

Found out the other day that the Hobbs yard (now joint with Johnson White, formerly long-time yard assistant) is down to 46 horses from 111 only two years ago. A couple of major owners have gone including the Whatelys so that must have been a huge blow. I know Philip is winding down but it’s going to be an uphill struggle for Johnson.

First divorce yes, it was very nasty and very, very costly. Main reason didn't buy the yard although had options for years to do so. Leaving there when bought for Warren Greatrex, in effect, was a very bitter pill to swallow I was told too although he had had umpteen opportunities to buy it.
