A while ago I had a conversation with a forumite about a horse who had been bought for 800gns from Ireland where it had been running over 7-8f on soft ground. The trainer who bought it promptly ran it over hurdles, 9f and hurdles again - all bad runs. On closer inspection I noted it was a half-brother to Genki, Highland Colori, The Happy Hammer and Hazelrigg - all multiple winners over 6-7f and all have improved with age. The horse I spotted, Until Midnight is by Moss Vale so I would have thought obvious back at a shorter trip.

Then in March it won at 25-1 (I was mighty peed off for missing it!) and has promptly won its next 2 including today. The horse is now trained by Eugene Stamford (has to be one of the shrewdest people I have met in racing and who already trained The Happy Hammer). I wonder just how far it will climb up the handicap.
