No one mentioned it, but Whisper is just lining up at Haydock.

Switched form Hendo to Twisto!

OMG...snapped his leg...so so sad.
Horrendous fall. Sam running around flailing his arms at the officials.

Oh that’s dreadful to hear. Absolutely loved this horse. Followed him initially as my mum had a lurcher called Whisper.

I really don't like criticising any connections decisions when they're much closer to the horse than I and I've no doubt they care hugely for their horses. I'm also a big fan of the veteran chase series BUT the horses need to at least appear still in love with the game.

Whisper might have been relatively lightly raced for one of his years but he'd been off the track for over 500 days after running in the King George as a 9 year old. That return was in a handicap hurdle when well beaten before having another 154 days off when switched to Sam Thomas, only to finish last at Chepstow as an 11 year old.

I appreciate it's easy for me to comment after the events of today but I just don't see what was to be gained by another trainer switch and having him lug top weight as a 12 year old a year later. He'd earnt over 400K in his career.

RIP Whisper
