Feel sorry for Claisse, for whatever he did he was on a loser. He prepared the course looking absolutely fantastic but the good old unpredictable British weather contrived to make it almost impossible for him to make a watering decision.

I can just see Mottershead at his desk now pathetically shape shifting his words, trying to sound poetic but actually pathetic whilst compiling the ugliest human and horse disaster anthology our sport has ever seen.

i think the main problem people have is thinking the ground on Tuesday and Wednesday was rock hard...just because of the times...when in fact it wasn't

i think he's done a great job...if he had watered before Tuesday he would have been lambasted

I totally agree but how many journalists will allude to the timing method change before they blame the injuries on the ground.

The ground was safe - the problem is when the ground is good the jockeys tend to go too fast .

He did a great job no doubt.
Tuesday morning the track was in fabulous condition with a great grass cover.
Wed because of the fog the track had a heavy dew and was soaking wet.
All the trainers and non riding staff were in wellies.
I thought the watering Wed night may have been unnecessary given the fog stayed until well into the afternoon but to be fair Spring Heeled winning put that notion to bed.
We were lucky with the weather these last few weeks no doubt.
