Sir Patrick Moore - RIP

Top man he was.
Spurred in me when I was a kid a lifelong interest in the cosmos.
R.I.P Sir Pat.
 
Well he was in the Monster Raving Loony Party Bull so a squiggle would have been appropriate.

I used to sit and watch him when I was a kid and hang on every word he said without really understanding what he was talking about. He had an amazing magnetic personality that just caught your attention. Back then I was into watching action series on Tv and everything else to me was a bore, except him.

More to him than met the eye, it seems he was a close friend of Brian May's and a very accomplished musician aprt from having a vast knowledge of the solar system etc

Eccentric guys as popular as him come along once in a blue moon.

He'll be sadly missed

Yes. That is an aspect of him that I have issue with, much as I appreciate his expertise as an astronomer.
The man was politically and ideologically bankrupt, I think it is fair to say. As well as his association with the MRLP, I am old enough to remember him as chairman of the United Country Party whose sole manifesto was an extreme anti-immigration policy. He was a vocal admirer of Enoch Powell. And sad to say he expressed on many an occasion some fairly virulent homophobic views.

Of course, his strong anti-foxhunting and anti-Coursing position earns another squiggle in my book.
