SkyBet changes to BOG

Not content with withdrawing BOG on extra place races (even where you back one win only) SkyBet have now announced that the concession will only be available to those who have qualified for their loyalty club the previous week. To qualify you need to stake £30 in the week at the moment but it went up from £25 last year so I’d imagine they’ll increase it again be before too long.

Perhaps this move will enable them to offer some decent prices (they’re often much shorter than others) but I won’t be holding my breath

Reasons to continue using SkyBet are disappearing fast especially as others often match them now on extra places and still manage to pay BOG

Just noticed they’re withdrawing the 10% & 15% bonuses on forecasts and tricasts as well!

Pisser I know but BOG is on its last legs and of the only other couple of bookies I can still bet with, it’s gone altogether so at least they haven’t gone that far - yet.

We had a golden era of concessions but it was never going to last so time to face up to the challenge of trying to beat the bookies old skool. At least the government will struggle to ever bring back betting tax for the punter.

BOG and double result have been features of the Irish off course betting market for close to 36 years. These are changed times for the industry and the attitude from PP seems to be if you don't like it go somewhere else.

Wish they would bring it back.
The much more succesful tax-based Irish model is staring the BHA in the face, yet they blithely ignore the benefits it brings to pursue a plan which puts the bookmakers more firmly in control of UK racing.
Have mooted this to the BHA and the PPA - the former yet to respond and the latter a seemingly a toothless tiger - while our sport slides even closer into the arms of the self-interested.

Why I don't know but they are the only UK bookmaker blocked in Thailand. Anyway BOG only seems to apply to UK residents with all the companies... why? beats the hell out of me.

Hopefully, they'll eventually revert to pre-concession days, where you could get a proper bet on at decent early prices.
True competition may not be dead yet.

At the moment the competition seems to be about who can impose restrictions and limits the quickest:)

I don't know -I think we have moved from bookmakers making a profit by having a strong opinion to big companies demanding a return on their investment.I no longer know of any truly independent bookmakers.

They are *****rs

The £6 free racing bet if you bet £30 has gone, they've replaced it with either 2x £2.50 racing accs or football accs or those stupid bet builders

I only have a little bit left on there, when it's gone im finished with them

The f***ers never said anything about changing it in their email announcing the BOG changes

Can’t be arsed with this Build A Better nonsense either

There is another option that is 3 x £2.50 bets on anything. Surely that is better than a £6 racing bet. The options in Sky Bet Club from today are:-

3 x £2.50 bet on anything
2 x £5 Build a Bet
2 x £5 Racing Acca
75 Free Spins

Unless it's different per punter but I doubt it as Sky are one of only 2 books I can bet with and they have never been very forthcoming in offering me concessions.

Can’t see the 3 * £2.50 free bets myself. I’m only seeing the 2 * £2.50 racing acca also

So you must be one of their favoured customers now

Most bookies only commitment to “responsible gambling” is to tell you to **** off if you win.

Same here, i was gonna rack up some free bets for Cheltenham, i had about 12 last year

Not this ****ing year:mad:

I can't help thinking this kind of thing is designed to attract the addicted. It makes a nonsense of promoting responsible gambling.

It must be aimed at 8 yr olds

I mean, watching a game of football hoping a ball goes out for a corner?

Juvenile and sad

It must be different as I don't get the top option.

Yeah that’s my usual MO also. I have a few in my account right now but SkyBet invariably have AP prices a couple or more points worse than others so holding off until the day. At least they’re allowing them to sit in my account at the moment (only a matter of time before they end that as well)
