As the Arse Cup seems to have run out of stem on the racing forum, I thought to start up a Cup for Smug Gits.

Not necessarily from the racing scene, could be any sport or any other field.

My nomination, as it happens, is from the racing channels. The luscious NICK LUCK, who is so in love with himself. Where does the confidence come from, his family? his education?............seems to know all the top owners and trainers personally.

But his really telling gift is his "rich vein" of cliches that he so readily "mines".

I'm probably jealous because it does seem a rather nice way to earn a living. :D

I was hoping it was restricted to forumites <_<

I reckon Tommo is a good thing for the double, having secured the @rse cup by a distance in a canter.

"Spangles" Kaplinsky without a doubt. She just thinks shes way too precious for her own good.

I miss watching her attempt to keep her eyes open on BBC Breakfast.

("Spangles", brilliant!)

Smugly Smug and Smuggerlyerer

Oh and where the booth is concerned Boyce is the smug to Chaps arse.

Nah, can't have that about dear old Dave (Smiffy) - he's far too down-to-earth. Much as he comes (reluctantly and insultingly) into Lingfield, I find Jonathan Neesom's unsmiling attiude and bored tones unbearable at times - he lightens up around Lydia Gigglesalot, since he's impressed by her academic prowess, but otherwise I find him giving every impression of being horribly smug about his knowledge and condescending towards everyone who isn't, and who isn't in on his little 'in' remarks. I think I'll tell him that next time he comes in...

Oh, God... if we're going to start on showbiz, we'll need an entire new website, Relks! I think most game show and many talk show hosts fall into that sort of category. They come across as smarmy and insincere. I can remember the awful Hughie Green (later to be known as the late Paula Yates's father), Bob Monkhouse, and now there are people like Vernon Kay and probably one of the Smuggest Gits, the eternally self-delighted Will Self, on 'culcha' shows. Yuk!

A fine array of contestants so far!

Colin, yes, Mr Luck is insufferably smug, although to be fair, I think he does know his stuff. But not my cup of tea either.

Nicky Campbell - of course.

Will Self? Not so much smug as creepy, in a reptilian sort of way. He can write, though.

How about Angus Deayton?

Many Radio 5 presenters...whos that scottish one with the odd name? As Manure or something

Pete allen and Jane Garvey really grate. Think they are being sooooo ironic allthe time. Cant abide them
