Story breaking this morning about three horses, Fire Away in the 1.25 Musselburgh which has already won, Blowing Dixie in the 2.35 Southwell and Gallahers Cross 4.25 Musselburgh. They were available last night at 33/1, 25/1 and 16/1 and reports suggest there have been several multiples placed involving large sums. The second and third horses are at large odds on already and stewards enquired of connections of the first two horses, before their races, how they would run and what were the riding instructions.

Who's on ?

If it's all just expert planning I hope it comes off (the first one fairly hacked up). If there's criminality behind it the investigation needs to be very thorough and I hope people end up in jail.

I'd rather it was the former.

:ninja: they better guard Gallahers Cross like the Crown Jewels

5/2 on now

ITV making a fuss about it isn’t doing racing any favours.

Won’t be suprised if this makes the actual news

I can see that that Fire Away was trained by the trainer of Gallaghers Cross but where is the link with Blowing Dixie? Previously with Jane Chapple Hyam and now Iain Jardine.

Yards are local to each other ive read

How do they get a decent amount on? I often get knocked back on a £10 win treble to win a few hundred?

Now Ed on ITV is saying bookies did 148% in the second leg i.e shortening the favourite but noy lenghtening prices on the others. This is going to be big with implications for quite a few.

Criminality and a thorough police investigation-get a grip man.

Bit of a gamble going on today on D J Jeffreys' horses

4.20P Blood Eagle, 50/1 last night, now best priced 6/4, couple of firms going evens.
1.00 Southwell - Notnow Seamus - Was 22/1 but is now 11/8.
2.03 Southwell - Perfect Predator - Was 12/1 but is now Evens.
3.40 Kelso - Getaman - Was 14/1 but is now 11/8
340 Kelso - The Gold Bug - Has stayed roughly the same price, and is drifting slightly.

Will watch with interest. Fair play to him if he can get 4 out of the 5 to win on one day. Not an easy task even if they have been laid out for this gamble.

Edit: from Racing Post -

None of the five runners have finished placed in their previous runs for Jeffreys, who played down the gamble when speaking to the Racing Post on Monday morning.

He said: "I'd love to tell everyone about it, but it's really not what it seems. I've no idea where it has come from.

"The only thing I thought was we had a winner at Plumpton the other day [Ayr Of Elegance] and Getaman races in the same colours. We've also done well at Kelso [2-5; 40% strike-rate] and it's a track I like to have a good time at. Outside of that I think everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.

"I don't mind having the odd punt and I'd love to tell all the punters out there, but I'd be very surprised. I'm struggling like hell with some of these horses. Blood Eagle is not a great mover at all. Notnow Seamus has had a tough life. Perfect Predator doesn't try at all and I've put cheekpieces on him."
