With the inaugruation of Barrack Obama (America's first 'black President' just in case anyone could possibly be unaware of this by now) the first historical judgements are starting to be made on President Muppet who even when he was delivering his farewell speach last night, the American news networks were covered with images of aircraft in New York which were deemed to be more newsworthy (in this case, floating down the West River though). Now obviously not content with rigging votes, and doctoring intelligence reports, Bush has engaged the services of Karl Rove in some shadowy thing called the 'George Bush Legacy Project' - I would suggest that the most fitting testimony might be to set it up in New Orleans, but somehow I think even Bush won't do that. Anyway, the objective of this 'project' it seems, is to re-write history and present Bush as a great president (no easy task I'd have thought?).

I couldn't help raising a smile at this poll (even though its clearly flawed) but for a President who did achieve some astronomical approval ratings post 9/11, it does show how far his stock has fallen, as what was apparent to us for so long, started to dawn on America

You need to scroll down a bit to view the poll

If we take 9/11 as the defining moment of his presidency and the Patriot Act as his response to it, can we define his success as a President by the number of subsequent deaths in the United States as a result of Islamic Fundamentalism?

I am no fan of George Bush, but I have a suspicion that history will treat him more fairly than some of his more forthright critics who have found a welcoming home at the forefront of today's mass media.

Well that's how he wants to be judged, but its a pretty daft argument when you reverse engineer it? especially as it happened on "his watch". Was he not going to "smoke (Bin Laden) out", and did he not tell Saddam "To bring it on". By his own definition there dozens of ex- presi's who are better than him? My own guess is that he'll be ultimately judged economically (as will Clinton) and I see parallels with Woodrow Wilson. Is Obama FDR? if he is, than that will define Bush as much as anything

If they judge him on deaths as a result of Islamic Fundamentalism abroad than he has been a failure.

He has a 80% approval rate in Africa! As it happens, he is very highly regarded there and lost in amongst all the chaos of Iraq and financial markets was the strong initiatives taken there

He was a poor president in many ways. Largely i would blame this on his slight naitivity and intellectual laziness, which led to a simplistic world view. Oddly enough for all the abuse hes had received, havent read one anecdote from any politician left or right that would deny he is a genuinely nice and witty guy. Not that that is strictly relevant of course

But im not sure that Kerry or Gore would have been especially successful either. One dull wooden (and not engaging personally) and the other ...the same

The most fascinating aspect of Obama's presidency will be the sight of him nipping out of the oval office for a fag every now and then. Its good isnt it? Also really liked his quip when the kids were too near the platform at Penns station. Nice line in humour....
