The BBC polls found that 68% in the UK said involvement was not worthwhile, while in the US, 51% said it was not.

I'm slightly surprised by the UK figure, which with almost perverse irony was showing 66/33 the other way when we went into Iraq (admittedly a different conflict altogether and with a much lesser justification) but the figure of 51% recorded in the US does shock me

The other thing I'm now tempted to do is ask how long you think it will be before the Taleban have regained control? 12 months from the last American's leave is my guess

I think the question the BBC have probably posed to broad brush in fairness, as the campaign has two separate elements to it, and it was only after 2006 when we went into Helmand that the problems escalated. On balance though, I actually find myself on the side of 32% here
