Although it was -10 round here last night the weather at Ffos Las doesn’t look so bad and there seems a good chance it won’t get frozen off tomorrow.

The Skeltons reckon they have some really nice new recruits who they are dying to get on the racecourse. Two tomorrow, Vicki Vale in the 1:30 and Mylesfromwicklow in the 2:30. Both likely to be evens to odds-on so really just a watch.

Similarly, Henderson has Propelled out in the 2:00 and seems to think highly of him. “Out of a wonderful mare we trained, he has ability – there's no doubt about that – but has had issues. He's sure to stay and remains exciting.”. Another watch, really, but maybe worth a nibble if money comes - 9/2atm.

True, tiggers, but I don’t back drifters. That stems from when I looked at it years ago and was startled to see how much damage was done to my accounts backing them. A few come in, of course, but not nearly enough to compensate for those that don’t (at least for the sort of horses I deal with).

I hadn’t realised Vicki Vale had already won and then been pulled up in the Challow - do keep up Barjon. She ran and jumped well at the head of affairs until near the death when the winner took over. She was given an easy time when defeat became obvious so could have been closer, the the rest of the field five lengths away. She should win again.

It was debut time for Mylesfromwicklow who had a nice introduction. Restrained towards rear early on, he edged into midfield then gradually further forward into third round the final bend, hustled along two out it soon became obvious he could not match the stamina of the winner and he, too, was not given a hard time and finished miles front of all the rest. He will win one.

Propelled drifted markedly - wrong ground.? - and didn’t’ raise any eyebrows. Given what Henderson said it’ll be interesting to see how he develops.

Notebook: In the 4:00 I thought Eceparti ran very nicely at the head of affairs from the fifth looking very comfortable, both in running and over the fences. He beat everything easily, bar the winner with whom he had no chance. Ran off 106 and can win from around that if the handicapper is not too harsh.
