I shed tears this morning reading the figures for this battle
120,000 went over the top of the trenches on the morning 1st July 1916
by the end of that very first day 20,000 were dead, by the end of the battle in November 125,000 were dead & nearly 1/2 million casualties, all this along one 18 mile stretch.
I make no apologies for posting this grim reading as it cannot be forgotten,
Rest In Peace, Man & Beast who fell.
