Imagine she was pretty slow and backward - owners have loads of fillys out of the mare as well.

with a filly like her, you can lose more than you can gain when they do not show any talent in the racing yard. studs much rather have an unraced relative to top-class horses and it is everybody´s guess why she did not run - after all they normally tell you she was injured etc. - than one that ran once and was last.

Actually thinking about it she would of been 2yrs old when she was covered then :blink:

In natural circumstances (wild) how old would a filly/mare be when she bred?

well no, she was covered 2009 (in spring this year) and is in foal, to give birth 2010 as a 4-yo. young , but not THAt young ....
