I've got some exciting news to share. Spectre Racing have acquired two horses to be offered as a pair, to race together in genuine syndicated ownership with Dan Skelton. They are being offered at less than the price point that so many people fed back was the comfortable entry point for ownership when syndicating The King Of Ryhope. The total cost is less than a £1.25 each way bet each day. In this day and age there’s not a whole lot you can do with such a small amount of money, but if you love your horse racing you’ll be able to own two horses in the leading Racing Yard in the UK.

A one-off payment of £899, or alternatively £299 and £55 per month buys your share in both horses, and includes all costs for the season through to the end of May 2025. You will not be asked to pay anything else. You will also receive your share of prizemoney, and any future re-sale value should either of the horses be sold. This is genuine ownership with all the experience and benefits you’d expect. It isn’t the microshare type offering where you are essentially part of something with thousands of others. You’ll get to spend time at the yard with Dan, and with your horses. Plus, access to the very many good horses in the Yard. The facilities are first class, as is the Trainer himself. A first-class communicator and an all-round nice guy, who is prepared to give up his time and share his knowledge with us. Don’t forget Dan was the leading UK Trainer at Cheltenham this season, winning two Grade 1’s and a Premier Handicap, and he was extremely unfortunate not to win his first Trainers Championship. Something he is determined to put right this season. Dan thinks our two horses can make a good contribution to that, as we feel they are winners in waiting.

Communication is continual with regards the horses, which will be both in written and video format. There will also be some live video sessions through the year. And there will also be discussions about other horses in the yard.

The horses are:

Forever William. An experienced hurdler, operating from a handicap mark that gets him into good races. A stayer on the flat that has converted to hurdles, and has the scope to improve once stepped up to three miles. He’ll run in the better staying hurdles over the summer, before going novice chasing in the Autumn when his hurdles mark may top out. He’s plenty big enough for chasing, and has already schooled nicely. He arrived carrying plenty of condition, so he’s been given a race over an inadequate trip to speed the fitness process up and to get some sharpness. He’ll be running again soon, and he’s expected to improve significantly on his second start for the yard.

Absolutely Fine. A horse who had been backward and just needed time to mature and grow into himself. Which has conveniently helped to get him a handicap mark that he’s very capable of winning races from. He’s improved physically over the last period, and Dan feels he is ready to win his races. He’ll start off very soon over two and half miles, and while he may need that first race off a break, he is expected to improve quickly for his racing. He’s also a nice longer-term prospect and is expected to make a decent Chaser.

There's a lot of hard work gone on in the background to make it happen. Specifically to do it at the pricepoint that makes ownership accessible. It's therefore a huge bonus to be able to do this with two horses, not just one. Both horses will be out over the next couple of weeks, and at the price, just like The King Of Ryhope and Spectre One (the store horse that'll make his debut this season), I think we're well ahead in terms of value. Both will win races, and they have plenty of future scope.

Last season was our debut season with The King Of Ryhope, and we had a lot of success. Winning at Chepstow, being desperately unlucky not to win the Reynoldstwon, and then going off favourite for the William Handicap on Grand National Day, when he'd gone over the top. He also finished third in the Towton, after getting stuck in a bog at Ffos Las. We expect a big season for his second season over fences, and there's a big race in him somewhere through the season.

We ran out of time getting a racecourse gallop into Spectre One. Because of the wet winter and spring, racecourses wouldn't allow it, so we took the decision to hold him back until this season. He'll probably benefit from that, as he's enjoying some good grass this summer, and looks to be both filling out and growing up. He's a really nice prospect, and a name to look out for this season. We're all very excited about what he could achieve.

Adding the proven ability of Forever William, and the unexposed future promise of Absolutely Fine to those two is very exciting, and suggests that there is a very good season ahead for all involved in Spectre Racing.

If anyone is interested to find out more either send me a direct message or send an email to spectreracingsyndicate@gmail.com

Either way I'll keep everyone up to date with running plans.

Thanks Paul

Thanks PJ. I'm looking forward to both.

I think Absolutely Fine will make his debut for us as soon as the weekend after next. He'll be handicap hurdling off a handy mark upped in trip. We know the key to getting significant improvement from him, and I think we'll see a lot of him over the next two to three months, hopefully winning a few races along the way. He'll make a nice chaser in time.

We'll wait a bit longer with Forever William. Probably until mid to late August. He'll run in a couple of hurdles, and then he'll switch to Novice Chasing for the season proper. Probably a mid-winter break then, coming back in the spring where he has the ability to be running in some of those better novice races, or still unexposed in decent handicap chases. He can win off his current hurdles mark upped in trip, and he's plenty good enough to win his share of novice chases.

The King Of Ryhope is likely to make his seasonal debut at the season opening Persian War Meeting at Chepstow, where he'll start off with a favourites chance. He's still nicely handicapped so we'll use that before going back into graded company. We have a valuable graded race as his season target. He is a very good horse, and I think we'll see the best of him this coming season.

Spectre One will go hurdling, but may debut in a Bumper if we think he needs racecourse experience. He's really smart, has been very forward so far, and big things are expected from him. As a Kingston Hill he'll get a trip over time, but looks plenty sharp enough to win over the minimum trip. He shares the same Dam as Magnor Glory and Black Bamboo who are both very good horses and are both operating at 2m-2m4f, those two by Fame and Glory, so it seems there a Dam influence going on as she was operating over the same range of trips.

All of them are very exciting, are operating in different types of races, are at different stages of their careers, and are very capable of winning their share of races for us. It really is a season to very much look forward to.

Absolutely Fine runs in the 4.40 at Worcester this afternoon. He’s thrived after his wind op in May. He’s filled out his frame, and come forward really quickly. His jumping is accurate, and he flies up the stiff hill at home refusing to be passed. Any price better than evens us a bet, and he’s a genuine candidate for the ‘Should be odds on’ thread. Everyone would be very surprised if he was beaten.

Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away in South Africa with limited connectivity.

Yes, no pace on at all, which wasn't ideal when he's getting an education. He was caught out of his ground and essentially out-sprinted off the front. 3rd in the circumstances was fair enough, and while we thought he'd improve enough to win, nobody was disappointed with the run, which showed the expected big step forward from his early efforts. He'll want an end to end gallop to be at his best, and you'd hope he can win next time.

Forever William has an entry on the C3 at Newton Abbot on Friday. He may well need it, and it's a stepping stone prior to the Silver Trophy at the Chepstow Persian War Meeting.
