I wasn't sure whether to put this on the racing section or other sports but wasn't Rachael Blackmore odds-on favourite for this for a long time after the Grand National?

Wasn't Briony Frost mooted for a while?

The nominations have been announced and you have to wonder about who decides these lists.

The nominees are diver Tom Daley, boxer Tyson Fury, swimmer Adam Peaty, tennis player Emma Raducanu, footballer Raheem Sterling and Paralympic cyclist Dame Sarah Storey.

Fvck me.

I can see a case for Adam Peaty but the others look entirely undeserving to me. Have British sports been so devoid of talent this year that this group is the best they can come up with?

Normally I only tune into the programme for the closing stages but this year I reckon I'll give it a miss.

I’d be pretty happy with any of those to be honest - all of them at least HAVE a personality which makes a nice change to some years.

( go Tom !!)

Rachael Blackmore is in the running for World sportsperson I think ( presumably that’s what I remember as being “overseas” person? ) hopefully she will get the recognition from the wider public she deserves :)

It’s a huge shame that Rachel Blackmore isn’t included but I suppose this is down to her being classed as “foreign” and based abroad......Her achievements this year most definitely deserve a place alongside these.

Emma was long odds on after her US Open win but I think her subsequent form may well put a fair few off. Her win was remarkable at the time and a sheer pleasure to watch but a one-off (I am sure she will win more in time) does not make a deserving winner, IMO.

Rachael won't be favourite to win the Irish version - Kellie Harrington, Olympic boxer, would be a very popular winner.

18 year old Emma Raducanu is past the post and you can't get 10 pence on her. latest price s 1/20 to 1/100

Unless she beats up BF in the next 7 days she's passed the post.

Kinda spoils the enjoyment knowing the result before they even line up.

He desrves to be there but his face doesn't fit with the media.

Brilliant acheivment equalling Eddy Merckx's all-time record of 34 Tour stage wins

The beast Peaty should walk it but he won't. World records and titles coming out his arse.

Tennis player is nailed on.

Sure I read it's being broadcast from a media place in Salford this year, and a lot of the sportsmen & teams won't be there anyway including Emma R.

Tyson Fury didn't want to be nominated, can't imagine him showing up...and people wonder why I don't own a tv? I can watch racing on computer, what is worth watching?

Daley - ridiculous
Fury - Yes, he's one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world
Emma - Yes, she won a Major
Peaty - yes

Sterling - wtf

Cav and Tom Pidcock would be worthy nominations maybe Joe Root.

Overseas gotta love Rachael but Tom Brady would be the most worthy winner imo

I wonder if his stint on strictly come dancing will help him out with voter numbers… [emoji848]

Good point. May get a few more votes but 2nd is the best he can hope for!

Jesus just seen the odds for the World Sports Star. Blackmore is on it and is odds on. WTF

Why is Sterling on it? I would have thought it should have been Rashford ahead of him.

This is Sports personality, Rashford has done nothing on the pitch. Did he not get an MBE for his other work (which was amazing IMO).

Christ if Rashford were a horse he'd probably be en route to Ben Haslam now if we are talking pure footballing ability!
