Is anyone else watching this? I love watching animals in their natural surroundings and the blue tit family in particular are very appealing. Hopefully those that remain will make it to adulthood.

Yes very much Triptych I just find it a very calming thing to watch as well as fascinating.

Have to agree, Colin. Every animal/safari/wildlife programme she does, she constantly gets in the way of whatever you're trying to watch, and screeches hysterically. If I hear another "Oh, WOW!" from her again, the remote's going through the screen. That'll teach her!

I just concentrate on what Bill Oddie is saying. It's easy to forget she is there then. Oddie and King, what great examples of our naturalists at work.

I saw the one with the bloke feeding the sea eagles fomr a boat in Scotland - I can only agree with you wholeheartedly, Colin. What a fantastic piece that was.

I am lucky enough to be able to observe several different types of bird of prey in Spain - they really are superb creatures. A Griffon Vulture hovering less than 50 feet above you is a stunning sight. When I was riding the other day I had a Short Toed Eagle flying over at a very low height, it was a magnificent bird.

Sadly the blue-tit family are down to only 2 baby blue tits, and Daddy isn't around either. From either 7 or 8 eggs, five hatched but three have died and the remaining two don't look very healthy.

Ive got a bird house in my yard and it has 3 baby blue titts in, ive sat there today watching the mother and father going in and out all day feeding them, fasinating stuff.

We have put up lots of feeding places in our garden this year and we are amazed at how many different birds come to the garden, (along with about 15 squirrels) and there are still some I don't recognise. I have placed one feeding area right outside my kitchen window and love watching the tits teaching it's young how to feed. It is a great way to de stress and can wholly recommend it as a form of therapy if everyday life winds you up.

I try to encourage small birds into the garden. I get mostly sparrows, dunnocks, blackbirds, blue and great tits, and recently saw some green finches and gold finches. This is a great time of year for bird watching. I love watching the fledglings following the parents around for food. The pic below was taken a couple of weeks ago. The baby wood pigeon crashed landed into the garden, and then decided that to hitch a ride was easier than flying!
